 About UsOur AchievementsCornea The cornea (the clear outer surface of the eye) can be damaged by disease or injury; vision becomes severely limited and blindness can result. The cornea can be removed and replaced by a cornea from a donated eye. Research is seeking to improve the success rate of corneal graft surgery. There are many diseases that can be improved by a corneal graft. The Eye Bank at Bristol Eye Hospital (BEH) supplies approximately 2000 corneas a year to more than 200 hospitals in the UK (including BEH).
